- He was born in a family of medical practitioners.
- After completing his Ph. D. in Finance from NYU-Stern in 2001, he joined the London Business School and served there from 2001 to 2008.
- In the Summer of 2008, he served as the Senior Houblon-Normal Research Fellow at the Bank of England.
- According to the NYU Stern School of Business websites, his research interests are in the regulation of banks and financial institutions, corporate finance, credit risk & valuation of corporate debt, and asset pricing with a focus on the effects of liquidity risk.
