After completing his Ph. D. in Finance from NYU-Stern in 2001, he joined the London Business School and served there from 2001 to 2008.
In the Summer of 2008, he served as the Senior Houblon-Normal Research Fellow at the Bank of England.
According to the NYU Stern School of Business websites, his research interests are in the regulation of banks and financial institutions, corporate finance, credit risk & valuation of corporate debt, and asset pricing with a focus on the effects of liquidity risk.
He considers the Ex. Governor of RBI, Raghuram Rajan, as his role model and has co-authored a number of journals with him. He once described himself as “poor man’s Raghuram Rajan.”
He is a good Cricket player and has played for the IIT Mumbai’s Cricket Team.
While studying at NYU Stern School of Business, he had started a local Indian music band- Surbahar.
He also runs an NGO- Pratham, which works to promote literacy in India and in the welfare of the underprivileged children.
The Government of India chose him from over a hundred candidates, as for the first time, the government advertised to fill up the post of the Deputy Governor of the RBI.
