Burhan was accused of being a militant by the Government of India. He was criticized for using social media to recruit the youth of Jammu & Kashmir for the Hizb-ul-Mujahideen and posting anti-national videos.
His father, Muzaffar Ahmad Vani, is a math teacher and headmaster at Jammu and Kashmir.
When Burkhan was ten years old, he wanted to join the Indian army because he fell in love with a camouflage dress.
He loved to play cricket and was considered a young player in Jammu and Kashmir.
There were also several reports that he was a victim of infidelity, as his girlfriend reported her whereabouts to J & K.
